So, as the Leaving Cert. exams come to an end, another summer gets in to full swing and many will kick off (or kick back) with the George Ezra concert in “Independent Park” (formerly known as “Musgrave Park”) this evening. No doubt, there’ll be a few visitors home to make a weekend of it and if you need a duvet or pillow for those unexpected (unwelcome?) guests, then look no further than yours truly in Household Linens where the 42nd. Annual Summer Sale is just underway !
As usual, there is fantastic value in duvets (with 20% off our famous “Spundown” duvets), pillows of all shapes and sizes, duvet covers, sheets, blankets, towels & much more. Some (but not all) of our designs can be seen on our Pinterest page and (as usual) if you want to be kept completely up to date with all that’s happening at 118 Oliver Plunkett St. then simply follow our Facebook page and you won’t miss anything.
Best sellers at the moment are anything in silver / grey or charcoal, especially when mixed with ochre / saffron or mustard but pink / grey combinations are also catching the imagination. Look at the ‘Sanderson’ designs “Rhodera” or “Thalia” for the latter and ‘Belledorm’ designs “Eton” or “Amour” for the former.
In pillows, the new “Soff-Art” pillow from Italy featuring a clever combination of superior memory foam, pocket springs & their 2,000 hole technology comes highly recommended while the aforementioned “Spundown” (washable at home at 60 degrees) continues to be a firm favourite (available in ‘soft’ / ‘medium’ or ‘firm’ options).
While we haven’t had the soaring temperatures of last summer, we still stock 4.5 tog duvets and they are ideal for the ‘muggy’ nights or what about a 7.0 tog if you feel that you couldn’t forsake your 13.5 tog duvet ! The “Heat Holders” fleece throws come in an extensive range of colours and are the only blanket / throw to carry a certified tog rating (of 1.4) so they might suit those of you who just want to curl up with something soft and cosy (besides your partner!). If you want to recycle your old duvet consider offering it to a dogs trust (or cats) who may take them for bedding…
Of course, there is a lot of talk about recycling in the news at the moment and here in Household Linens we are happy that we recycle about 90% of our waste (mostly in the form of cardboard). In a clever initiative, the “Fine Bedding Co.” have switched from vinyl tape to paper tape on all their cartons – a simple but effective way of reducing waste and one we are also going to follow on our security tape. Indeed, we were recently commended by a litter warden who said that the way we present our recycling for collection is an example to all city traders and we admit that we puffed out our chest a little bit on hearing that!
So this year we celebrate our 42nd. Annual Summer Sale and (as always) we must thank you – our loyal customers who continue to support us and (as always) we are happy to hear from you by email or through any of our social media channels or, even better, stop in next day you’re passing by ! Look forward to seeing you…
